In January 2019, the Institut français du Nigéria launched a year-long project titled Garden After Work.
Every third Thursday of the month from 5 PM to 7 PM, the Institut’s garden has been opening its doors to creative people who want to meet up.
This program aims to be a free platform for artists and cultural professionals to discuss new creative projects with like-minded people and in front a general audience that is interested in art and culture (artists, cultural entrepreneurs, teachers, students… ). It is also a great opportunity for these professionals to exchange ideas, get feedback and find partners.
🌿🌿 Why did we launch the Garden After Work program? 🌿🌿
As part of its support to the Nigerian cultural scene, the Institut français du Nigéria, on the 17th of January 2019, launched a monthly networking event aimed at Nigerian professionals in the cultural sector called “Garden After Work”.
On January 17th, 2019, 90 professionals of the Abuja cultural scene (artists, art gallery owners, cultural project managers, directors of start-ups, etc.) gathered in the garden of the Institut français du Nigéria for the launch of this year-long project.
The Institut français du Nigéria hopes that this sustainable platform will provide a meeting point for creative people (artists, cultural entrepreneurs, teachers, students …) in Abuja to share ideas and stay updated on events and projects on the cultural scene. This meeting will also be the ideal place to find like-minded people to serve as sounding boards for new ideas and find partners with whom to collaborate on artistic projects.
On the third Thursday of each month, from 5 pm to 7 pm, a group of creative people working in various artistic fields (dance, theatre, music, photography, cinema …) will briefly present their upcoming projects, all of this in a relaxed ambiance with music playing in the background.
