Life In My City Art Festival was established in 2007. It is an annual celebration of creativity featuring young talents in the Nigerian art landscape. The Grand Finale features works of art from young people across the country, selected from over 600 works exhibited annually in 11 exhibition centres across Nigeria. It is the largest gathering of young artists, patrons, scholars, gallery owners and other stakeholders in the visual arts in Nigeria.

The Institut Français du Nigeria, as well as the Alliances Françaises around the country, has been a major partner of the festival for the last 10 years: with a strong presence in Nigeria, the French cultural network has supported and participated in the coordination of the festival.

This year 28 artists participated in the competition for Abuja zone. The Abuja jury met on Wednesday 31st August and selected 13 entries, to be exhibited in Enugu from 24th October to 29th October and to compete for the Grand Finale. The list of qualifiers for the Grand Finale is available here: http://www.lifeinmycityartsfestival.org/news.php

This year, the Institut français du Nigeria will support one of the national winners with a solo exhibition in Abuja. The artist will have the opportunity to present his works in the frame of the “Art of friendship” exhibition organised by the National Gallery of Art.

The Abuja winner will be announced during the first week of October. Stay tuned!
